D1 solenoid: build it in 3D, step by step
Every part is drawn to scale in millimetres from the D1 and D2 drawings (former Ø38/Ø34 × 160, 42 turns, cell Ø25 × 28, shield layers as assumed in the fit drawing). Do each step with the green button, answer the check questions, and move on. Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, right-drag to pan.
Assumptions shown in this simulator, to confirm before cutting: shield layers of Ø46, Ø56 and Ø66 mm bore, 1 mm thick, 250, 266 and 282 mm long, end caps with a Ø14 mm beam hole on the axis and a Ø12 mm cable hole 16 mm above it (the equipment list gives only “Ø~70 × 250 mm, 3 layers”); the bench and the shield axis at the 100 mm beam height; a cell without a stem; a notch in the cable-end spacer ring for the leads. Readings on the meters are the design values; your own readings will differ a little, and the in-shield value k is an example.
